Get Involved
The Youth Steering Committee's primary focus is facilitating involvement of youth within IPY. Opportunities to get involved include: participating in the YSC's projects, joining the Polar Network, and learning about the Polar Regions through the education centre. Once involved, share your knowledge on the Polar Regions with your class, school or community, do a school or science fair project on the Polar Regions or start a school club and give talks and presentations on IPY and what you have learned. To get started, try looking through the education centre and discussion forums on this site.
IPY YSC Projects
The YSC's major projects are:
National Youth Steering Committees
In association with the Youth Steering Committee, each participating country or indigenous group has a national level committee. These committees are responsible for overseeing more nationally focused projects and acting as a link between their country's activities and the international Youth Steering Committee. In particular national level committees will work to involve as many youth from their nation in IPY as possible.
If your country does not yet have a national committee and you are interested in helping please contact us. We will be happy to provide any assistance that we can.
