[Poll] Climate Change: Questions and Information
May 22, 2007 @ 04:05 PM

Global Warming is the process through which the Earth warms up. Also in the process of Global Warming, the polar ice caps start to melt. The narrator in this movie, Al Gore, gives the audience a great example. He says, “Let’s say you have a glass of water with one ice cube in it. When the ice cube melts, the water level doesn’t change. But say you have a glass stacked with ice cubes. When those ice cubes melt, the water level rises. This is what is happening in the process of global warming.” This example shows that the water represents the ocean water, and the ice represents the melting Polar Regions. It says that when the ice caps melt the water will rise, taking the homes of millions. The effects of Global Warming, are already affecting people living in the Pacific Nations. One place is Alaska. One of the Alaskan islands, are inhabited by Native Americans. With the water levels rising, the island’s shore line has retreated and has begun to erode caves along the island’s side. These are some of the things I learned.

Along with the things I learned, I still have a lot of questions. One of the questions I had been thinking about the whole movie was: if we were to cut down or CO2 level 75%, will we still have the Polar Regions we have today? How long will it be until all the polar bears will be extinct or put in a zoo? I have more questions, but these are the two I find unsolvable. The other questions, I can figure out with research, but these two are the ones I have been dying to try and answer. I hope later on that we can reduce our CO2 pollution, and can save the Polar Regions for our children and grand children to live in and enjoy. Also I hope we can save the polar bears and all other animals endangered by Global Warming.
