Sea Level Rise
May 22, 2007 @ 12:31 PM

I have learned alot just by watching different movies & clips. It makes my really sad when I see polar bears dying just because of us. People really need to take action & especially the government. If we did something about it we could change the whole world. Lots of ice is mealting and killing alot of people that live along the coast. How would you feel if all your belongings got sunk underwater? Or if you had to swim until you dround? I would hate to do that. If I could tell someone what to do better, I would say; turn off your lights when your not using them, not pollute, recycle, and use energy efficent lights and there are so many more ways we can help the sea level rise. If you wanted to get more ways to help the sea level to go down, you could go to a website and find lots of ways to help. I still wonder if we can really make a difference. Maybe its just the way it goes. But Im sure if everyone in the world tried to do something the sea would stop rising, but nobody is taking action.

Yes, i agree. Many people and animals are dieing just because of us, not taking control and taking a step forward and stopping global warming. WE all need to take action now.

If polar animals are dying because of human activity then why hasn't anything drastic like this then why hasn't it happened before? please explain.

We don't want the sea level to rise, though. If the sea level rises, then it will kill even more polar bears by reducing their ice cap habitat. Also, if we let or make the sea level rise, the polar bears will have to go longer distances to look for food, and they would more likely die of exaustion because they have to have ground to eat their prey. And what are our belongings compared to the wildlife? Considering most of our possessions are made from the wildlife, it would be poor thanks to care more about them than nature.
To save the enviorment more, I agree that we have to create more energy-effecient electronics and such, but we also have to find a way of getting rid of the older ones. Like ones that were producing carbon emissions into the air when they were active. They would still produce a little carbon dioxide when they are not in use. If we found a way to recicle our older technology that nobody uses anymore into new technology that a lot more people would use, than that would be even better, don't you think.
I agree with you on most of your essay, but we need to take one step beyond getting rid of active emissions - we have to save the planet.
