The Land of the Ice...
May 21, 2007 @ 05:17 PM

When I first saw the effects of global warming I was in shock. Knowing that we humans are responsivle for this conseguence is probably the worst feeling in the world. The United States has caused 33.3% of global warming. What really touched me was the fact that in less thatn fifty years we can not save our planet. With the ice poles melting the sea level increases, rising over land that millions of people are living on. This has a huge affect because it will kill millions of people, but also we will loose the land that we have always have had before. Global warming will also affect the animals by making them extinct. I want my kids to be able to know what a polar bear is. Also with the warm weather it is affecting the land, people, and animals. From dried up lakes, to droughts, to intense heat that people can't stand, and even extinction from animals. Knowing all of this makes me horrified. For when my children are older they will have to live with this if we dont act now. With these devastating facts they really got me motivated to do something about global warming. I want Earth, our home, to be healthy and back on track as it was before...
From all the facts that i have learned and the facts that have touched my heart I still have a few questions on my mind. The biggest one is will we be able to stop this? I understand that we will need manhy participants. but, I am concerned. Will we stop melting the ice poles in time? Or even be able to save the Polar Bears from harm? What troubles me is that we are very intelligent beings. Scientists have soulutions, but why dont we use them? I personally think we really need to focus on the biggest polluter, and stop it or even invent something that is better for the environment. All people should realize what we are doing to our home planet. I believe we can save our earth. We can prevent the oceans rising, the disappearing of land, the loss of polar bears, and the melting of the ice caps. I believe we all just need to work together. For Earth is our home and I am sure everyone wants to keep it safe...

wow. nice post. wink for your question about saving the polar bears and melting ice in time...
it all depends on if we take action soon enough. instead of waiting for the government to pass laws to help sto pthe melting, we need to make a stand ourselves. you shouldn't be so worried about if we will be able to help save the earth in time. we are perfectly able and there are people all over the world right now taking action to help the polar bears and many other animals already being affected or going to be affected by global warming. we are just another thread of people that know whats going on and are willing to stop it. so don't be so shocked and worried, because there are great people all over the world who know what they are doing when they saw they will stop global warming. we can help too!big grinbig grinbig grin

I thought that your post was absolutely amazing. You are so right about what is happening to the Earth, and I agree with you on everything that you just said. It is so sad that we are basically killing our once beautiful planet, and like your said, the kids of the future will never be able to see a polar bear of even know what snow is!!!

It was such a shock to me too when I learned that the Earth will be out of our hands in only 50 years! I didn't know that, and that fact alone really motivated me to help and make a difference. The movie "An Inconvinient Truth" by Al Gore is also very inspiring and everyone should watch it so that they can learn about what is happening to the Earth and make a difference.

Great job on your post! It was very well written and I am sure that it inspired a lot of people to make a difference!
